Glitter makeup fixation is not rocket science, and there are several ways to do it! Fixing glitter is not as challenging as it might seem in pictures.
Once you have considered the need for durability of fixation and chosen the right area on your skin, next, you can choose the best fixation method according to your use. Anhydrous fat, such as vaseline, is a great choice for lighter and easily removable makeups. Glitter adhesive skin glue offers a longer-lasting fixation for performances or events where the makeup needs to stay flawless for a long time. Additionally, using glitter in hair or beards is easily done with hair gel. For decorating nails, transparent nail polish is suitable, on top of which glitter is sprinkled. GLITTER MAKEUP FIXATION – Waterfree cream
There are a few things to consider when fixing glitter. First, how durable a fixation you want AND, more importantly, how durable a fixation you really need. Another consideration is where on the skin area you plan to apply glitter and/or face diamonds.
If you want to do a “classic glitter makeup,” such as decorating the corners of the eyes, under the eyes, or cheekbones, we definitely recommend using vaseline or another waterfree cream (Miracle Balm, Vitalis, etc.). Waterfree cram fixes the glitter gently, yet durably. Moreover, waterfree cream leaves “room to work” with the glitter makeup, in case you want to correct the makeup later! Vaseline does not dry or harden on the skin; as a base for glitter makeup, it remains soft.
You really don’t need a lot of waterfree cream as a base for glitter makeup. Also, keep in mind potential wrinkles and facial movements! For example, it’s not advisable to apply vaseline on a moving eyelid, as it will most likely clump. Glitter makeup also does not look its best if the fixing agent leaves it clumping in the skin’s wrinkles as undefined lumps.
If you want the glitter makeup to be a bit more durable, you can spritz some gentle hairspray or makeup fixing spray over it. Hairspray should definitely not be used on the skin daily, but occasional use should not cause harm! You know your skin best, so in this case, you’ll surely know if your skin can handle a small amount of hairspray 🙂
GLITTER GLUE FOR GLITTER MAKEUP AND FACE GEMS
For a more durable attachment of skin diamonds and glitter makeup, glitter glue is an excellent option. It’s designed specifically for cosmetic use, ensuring that it’s safe for the skin and provides a strong hold for both skin diamonds and glitter, making it ideal for events or performances where long-lasting wear is essential.
When using glitter glue, it’s important to apply a thin layer to the area where you want to place the glitter or skin diamonds. Allow the glue to become slightly tacky before applying the decorations; this will help them adhere better and last longer. Glitter glue is suitable for various areas, including the eyelids, cheeks, and other parts of the face or body where you wish to add a sparkling touch.
One of the advantages of using glitter glue is its precision; you can apply it exactly where you need it, ensuring that your skin diamonds or glitter stay in place without affecting the surrounding makeup. Moreover, most glitter glues are formulated to be gentle on the skin and easy to remove, minimizing the risk of irritation.
For removal, gently cleanse the area with a makeup remover suitable for sensitive skin or use a product specifically designed to dissolve cosmetic adhesives. This ensures that both the glitter and glue can be removed without harsh scrubbing, keeping your skin healthy and irritation-free.

FIXING GLITTER TATTOOS
Glitter tattoos are easy and safe to apply to the skin with Glitterist’s glitter glue. However, please note that we do not recommend applying glitter glue on children’s faces. For the face area, glitter tattoos can be affixed with vaseline or another type of anhydrous fat.
Tattoos made with glitter glue stay on the skin similarly to traditional transfer tattoos, that is, for a few days. They can be washed off with water and an oil-based makeup remover if desired. This works best after a shower when the skin has softened a bit from the water. However, please try to remove the tattoos in a way that prevents the glitter from ending up in the drain!
GLITTERHAIR & GLITTER BEARD
To attach glitter to hair, beards, and thick eyebrows, hair gel is the best fixative. Large-flake glitters from our range are ideal for this purpose. Apply gel generously to the desired area before “painting” on the glitter. You can also mix the gel and glitter in advance in a small bowl. Keep in mind, the gel dries hard, making the hair or beard stiff. Therefore, areas like partings, buns, or the base of a ponytail are good spots for hair glitter application.
HOW TO REMOVE GLITTER?
Removing glitter makeup is most effectively done with a facial cleansing wipe (or baby wipes) and tape.
First, gently wipe off as much glitter as possible with the cleansing wipe. Then, use tape to pick up the remaining flakes, which prevents them from being washed down the drain.
If you’ve used skin-friendly glue for fixation, try an oil-based makeup remover before using tape. Dab the glitter with a cotton pad soaked in the makeup remover, then use tape for any leftovers.
Glitter is very efficient in use, requiring only a small amount per application, so a little goes a long way.
